With the way the world is going right now and (for the most part) all of us are forced to stay home, this free time can be either daunting or pleasurable for people. I think my first reaction was surprise, "oh wow we aren't supposed to go to work?" and then denial, that this was virus was serious enough for people to be waiting in line for the grocery store in masks and gloves 6 feet apart. This has never happened before, it's unlike anything I've ever experienced in my life. I was alive in 1994 when hurricane Andrew struck Miami, but even that wasn't comparable. How do we act? What do we do? Are we suppose to just weather it out like a storm? It's like you're watching a movie, not playing a part, just a standby observing the events passing you by. Then again, when you realize you have no control; we don't know when we will go back to work, or if things will ever be back to "normal", you start to channel your focus on other things, like redecorating your home, working on projects you've started but never finished, devouring books and film (I just signed up for criterion, great collection to binge guilt free on), painting, photography!

Facetiming with friends and coworkers, walking around the block for fresh air and sun, going to the park now and then to sit in the grass, taking long baths with epsom salt, these few activities have become apart of my routine, which definitely helps my mental health, how about you? What kind of activities have you picked up?

What's important to remember is that we are ALL GOING THROUGH IT. And we have all had our freak out, stressed, annoyed moments, so don't beat yourself up about it.

A positive that has occurred is with all this time on my hands, I was able to reconnect with photography allow myself to become experimental. Its nice to have the extra energy to feel motivated to get up, set up a corner and shoot. SO, I've been feeling inspired to dress up with no where to go and take a few self shot portraits..

Here are some of the experiments I've been working on..

The blurry ones are with long exposures, you never know what you're gonna get!
