Curly Shearling and the Eccentric Jewels

A big fan of Scandinavian jewelry, with its raw, unusual and free hand quality, I came across a few great pieces on Ebay recently, by jeweler Georg Jensen (or inspired by his work).

Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, began training as a goldsmith at the ripe age of 14, but desired to be a sculptor so he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Realizing that this wasn't a fruitful career financially, he turned his back on his love for clay sculpting and decided to go back to silversmith and design work, opening his very own shop in 1904.

Noticed for the fine quality of his Art Nouveau style creations, Jensen became quite successful, opening retail outlets in New York, Paris, London, Stockholm and Berlin. Georg Jensen also has designers that work for him and have their own unique stamps, which continue his style and name.

A few examples of Jensen's work and the designers who work under his influential style.

And for todays outfit..

I picked up this awesome curly shearling/suede coat at the men's section at The Wasteland the other day, after selling some less desired shoes I had leftover making my closet extra dusty.

{Cleaning out my closet is a work in progress when it comes to a vintage item hoarder such as myself..Vintage clothing and accessories seem to each have lives of their own with colorful histories having been loved and used, and sometimes its just too sad to send them on their way again}...

  5. Your kimonos and your jewelry always make me so jealous!! You have some really gorgeous pieces, as in this outfit- love everything about it. I mean seriously- your leggings with the "heavens" designs on them? And then the leopard print kimono? Seriously clothing eye candy right there. x
