Following the Michael Kors Autumn/Winter 2011-12 show, these gorgeous thick silver collar necklaces were portrayed on the runway.
It seemed that the whole collar necklace craze started with the rather tribal-esque ones that featured wood spikes, and then the more rocker/80's inspired metal spikes, or dangling chandelier type necklaces, invoking imagery of Indian jewelry. Moving on towards the choker/or also referred to the dog collar necklace, which originates from Edwardian times where the choker became most popular. The style was introduced by Princess Alexandra of Denmark (later became Princess of Wales after marrying Edward VII and then attained the title of Queen), who wore the choker necklace to hide a scar on her neck, from a childhood operation.

ReplyDeleteI really like these kind of necklaces but I have a very thin neck so they usually look pretty weird on me. LOVE your pictures, everything looks perfect, especially that dress! X
ReplyDeleteThat dress is beautiful, and I love it combined with those leggings!
ReplyDeleteI can see the 80's inspiration of the dress, but it also reminds me of the 20's flappers.
